Promo Video Task

Today in Media we filmed our short 'Promo Video' about mobile phones. Here is ours;

Evaluation

What did you have to do?
For our preliminary task, we were asked to make a short documentary on the topic of mobile phones, we were given one lesson in which to film this. It had to include one main interview, varied cutaways and multiple shot types. It was then edited by the whole group.

What worked well and what didn't work so well?
After our documentary was finished and fully edited, a small group watched it and made constructive comments on what they liked and disliked. They stated that they had noticed that the framing and lighting had changed slightly after the first half of the interview, this was because it was filmed on two separate occasions.

What have you learnt that will help you to create your documentary to a high standard?
I have learnt that when doing the main task, there should be no jump cuts as this will make the documentary harder to watch and that these can be covered with cutaways. Also i have learnt that if we are to film an interview that needs to be changed then the whole interview should be changed as changes in lighting and framing can distract the audience and it would look more professional if there was good continuity.
